The U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution which authorizes the House to file a lawsuit against President Obama for his attempts to rewrite the law and to circumvent the Legislative Branch of government. Following passage of this resolution, Congressman Bill Flores (R-Texas) issued the following statement:

"Since President Obama first took office in 2009, Americans have seen the administration abuse its power to put politics and ideology above the law, and to threaten the freedoms and liberties of hardworking Americans. The president himself has failed to follow the Constitution in faithfully executing our nation's laws. He has even gone so far as to make his own laws without notice or approval of Congress.

"The president needs to know that there are consequences for his unconstitutional changes to our laws. Through this lawsuit we can work to restore the public's confidence in our Constitutional system of governance and preserve the balance among our three branches of federal government. It is important that we protect the Constitutional liberties of American citizens.

"The president and his administration must be held accountable to follow American laws and to adhere to our Constitution. We have a duty to restore American's trust in our federal government, and I wholeheartedly remain committed to this effort."
